The itinerary day by day

Day 1

Meet at 18.00 am at your accommodation for a presentation of the trip and the arva/shovel/probe safety equipment by the guide.
Our walks are chosen to be accessible without any danger for most of the winter. However, the guide may have to modify the programme according to the weather or an exceptional avalanche risk, in order to offer you the best choice for the day (forest outing in the snow, panoramic outing in fine weather, etc.) in complete safety. Walking times and gradients are given as a guide only, and may vary depending on the quality of the snow.

Day 2

MEGEVE AND THE STASSAZ WATERFALL
A short minibus transfer (around 20 minutes) takes you to the start of the hike in the small hamlet of La Livraz, where the Megève cross-country ski area is located. It's a gentle, enchanting first day in cold, sparkling snow. We made our way to the impressive frozen Stassaz waterfall, where a group photo was inevitable. The descent is a playful one, as we slalom between snow ‘mushrooms’ standing on cut logs and small boulders. Return to the hotel after the return transfer.
4:00 hour walk / Elevation : +/- 400 m

Day 3

BY RAIL TO MONT LACHAT
We take the snow tramway, France's highest cog railway, to Bellevue. Bellevue lives up to its name, as the panoramic view over the Chamonix valley and the Mont Blanc massif is breathtaking. From Bellevue, several routes are possible, depending on snow conditions. The ascent of Mont Lachat (2115m) further enhances the gigantic scale of the west faces of Mont Blanc. After that, a loop to Bionnassay or Le Prarion is possible. The tramway will take you back down.
4:00 to 5:00 hour walk / Ascent : +/- 500m

Day 4

LE PETIT CROISSE BAULET SUBLIME PANORAMA OF MONT BLANC
Transfer by minibus to Mégève (approx. 20 minutes). This sporty day on the outskirts of the Megève and Combloux ski areas is still very natural. Chamois are not uncommon on the snow-covered faces of the Croisse Baulet. From the Col de Jaillet, the forest gradually gives way to a totally white world. At the summit, the 360° view of the Aravis, Fiz and Mont Blanc ranges is breathtaking!
5:00 to 6:30 hour walk / Elevation : +/-450m ; +/- 700m elevation for Petit Croisse Baulet (2009m)

Day 5

RELAXING DAY AND EVENING ON MONT BLANC
Today is a very special day. Enjoy a relaxing morning in St-Gervais: every Thursday morning a market of mountain producers sets up in the central square of St-Gervais. Honey, cheeses, jams... a multitude of local products to discover and taste. You can also enjoy a relaxing morning at the St-Gervais thermal baths. Saint-Gervais thermal spring water trickles down from the bowels of the famous Mont Blanc massif. A water with exceptional properties, first exploited in 1807. Today, everyone can benefit from its therapeutic and hedonistic virtues. (Optional)
There's no shortage of good places to eat in St-Gervais! We can advise you according to your tastes. Don't hesitate to plan ahead and book your table at the start of the week. (Meals not included in the price)
At the end of the afternoon, your guide will meet you for an unusual adventure. Transfer by minibus to Plaine joux (about 25 minutes). After enjoying the sunset from the small family resort of Passy Plaine-Joux, we head off towards Lac Vert and the Mollays mountain pasture, accompanied by the calm of the night. As the cold sets in and hunger sets in, it's time to light the fire and share a unique, gourmet and memorable moment! Return to the hotel around 10pm.
5:00 hour walk / Elevation : +/- 400 m

Day 6

LES CONTAMINES MONTJOIE, THE WILD VALLEY AT THE END OF THE ROAD
Transfer by minibus to Les Contamines (approx. 15 minutes). A beautiful day in the heart of the Contamines-Montjoie nature reserve to enjoy the snow-covered landscape one last time. The day begins with an ascent of a Roman road used by the Tour du Mont Blanc GR. At 1500m, the landscape opens up and you can see the various peaks that encircle this beautiful valley. The Aiguille de la Pennaz guides our steps. A last pretty white and wild loop in the Mont Blanc region.
6:00 hour walk / Elevation : +/- 600 m

End of stay around 4pm at accommodation

The trip

LEVEL**

Elevation: +/- 400 to 650m approximately per day.
Walking time: 4 to 5 hours per day depending on the group.
Type of trek: this tour is not technically difficult and is open to all, no prior experience of snowshoeing necessary.
Same hotel all week that permits a rest day at any point.

THE SNOW

With climate change, we can no longer be sure of the presence and quality of snow in the mountains, even in the Northern Alps. However, the mountains in winter, even without snowshoes, are still a treasure trove to be discovered. When snowshoes can't be used due to lack of snow, mini-crampons are available to ensure that you can practise in complete safety.

Number in a group between 6 and 12 people supervised by a qualified professional winter mountain leader, specialist in snow and avalanches.
